Bandwidth
1 - In internet connection terms, it is the amount of data that can be carried per second and is usually measured in megabytes. The higher the value the faster your pages will load.
2 - When specified by an Internet Service Provider, it is the monthly quota of data that you are allowed to upload or download (send or receive) with your internet connection.
CMS
Content Management System - a separate application or program purchased and installed on your computer which allows you to go to a website and change selected parts without breaking anything.
ISP
Internet Service Provider - is the company that provides the connection to the internet and may also host your website and provide email addresses.
Pixelated
Describes an image where the edges are fuzzy or 'squared' by individual pixels (picture elements) being visible to the naked eye. This usually occurs when a digital image has been resized several times, usually from a small image to a large one.
Extreme example
S.E.O.
Search Engine Optimisation. Is a method of putting together the text and website files so that search engines like Google can find your website more easily.
Spam
Unsolicited (junk) e-mail sent to many people at once involving advertising or offering services. It is believed the term 'spam' is derived from the Monty Python 'viking spam' sketch. It is not allowed to be sent from any hosting service provided by Minting design.
SSL - 'Golden Padlock'
Secure Sockets Layer - a technical term for a communications protocol but used commonly in eCommerce to refer to a ‘digital’ certificate. The website owner purchases a certificate which is then placed on the server which hosts the website. When a customer goes to the cart or checkout, it will be shown as secure by a ‘golden padlock’. Any data transferred to the server, like your credit card details, will now be encrypted and so secure.

Uniform Resource Locator - a technical term but in popular usage, it is a Website Address. i.e. www.just4legs.co.uk
